As our communications team and digital publishing ambitions grow, we are seeking a creative, hard-working multimedia specialist with a broad range of skills that include video filming and editing, data visualisation and, ideally, graphic illustration. This role may suit a candidate with a background in online mass media who is seeking a change of environment, or someone with at least 3-4 years’ experience of regular content production in the charitable or non-governmental sector. About the role

As our communications team and digital publishing ambitions grow, we are seeking a creative, hard-working multimedia specialist with a broad range of skills that include video filming and editing, data visualisation and, ideally, graphic illustration. This role may suit a candidate with a background in online mass media who is seeking a change of environment, or someone with at least 3-4 years’ experience of regular content production in the charitable or non-governmental sector. We are looking for someone with the enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to make a positive contribution to the development of our digital content and present our ground-breaking work in innovative, engaging ways.

Main responsibilities

  • Recording and editing short videos for social media, featuring Theirworld activists and leaders.

  • Compiling slideshows/carousels with music. 

  • Turning data, information trends and developments from the Theirworld’s programmes,  research and achievements, and from global education generally, into easy-to-comprehend, eye-catching graphics and illustrations for our social and digital audience. 

  • Working within Theirworld’s brand guidelines to develop and maintain a strong, recognisable look to our content production.  

  • Coordinating and collaborating in a collegiate fashion with the communications team and, on occasion, outside contractors.

These responsibilities and functions may be adjusted slightly for the right candidate and as our needs change over time. For example, the role may sometimes involve managing output of email newsletters, or composing content for our social media channels.

Experience, skills and character

  • A creative thinker able to contribute and express ideas, and the ability to identify and exploit opportunities. 

  • Determined, enthusiastic and proactive ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Strong time management skills, ability to juggle several tasks simultaneously and willingness to see a job through.

  • Ability to get on with people at all levels of the organisation. 

  • Proficient user of Adobe in particular InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator and excellent other IT and data management skills, including Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to quickly pick up new software and communications tools and keep colleagues abreast of relevant and useful developments in the field.

  • Understanding of SEO and use of Google Analytics would be useful.
