About this role
One of these critical new hires is an exceptional Campaign and Advocacy Manager to manage our big, public-facing campaign – #WriteTheWrong. Launched in 2019, the campaign seeks to build mass awareness of the global education crisis and mobilise the political will and financial support to give every child a chance to achieve their potential.
We are looking for a strong, experienced leader who will play a key role in helping take the campaign to the next phase, focusing on:
Designing and delivering strong, targeted online and off-line campaign and advocacy activities that help mobilise key audiences to support the achievement of the campaign’s advocacy goals and beyond.
Secure a serious uplift in public awareness of the global education crisis.
Mobilise a strong supporter base on this issue and for the campaign.
The Campaign Manager will report to the Director of Policy, Advocacy and Programs, and will work closely with the Head of Communications. The role will be based in our London office, with occasional domestic and international travel as required.
- Devise, develop and deliver impactful, creative campaign and advocacy plans that support the achievement of Theirworld’s advocacy goals for 2020 and thereafter (linked to best start, safe place to learn and skills for the future).
Coordinate, draft and produce campaign materials and assets and effective dissemination plans to raise public awareness of the global education crisis and the campaign.
Lead on the development and management of a supporter database and engagement strategy for the #WriteTheWrong campaign to expand the number of supporters and mobilise them to take action.
Encourage and support our Global Youth Ambassadors and Global Business Coalition for Education members to be champions and spokespeople for the campaign.
Lead on the design and implementation of public campaign events.
Contribute to ongoing discussions about campaigns, messaging and tactics around initiatives across the organisation and maximise effective linkages with the #WriteThe Wrong campaign.
Lead on monitoring rapid response opportunities for the campaign and support the communications team to respond effectively and assist on any other communications tasks.
Support online fundraising campaigns.
Lead on #WriteThe Wrong campaign monitoring, evaluation and learning and providing campaign-related data/analytics to support the development of organisational impact reports.
Experience, skills and character
You should have:
Approximately 5+ years’ experience in managing political and/or social campaigns - ideally with a leading consultancy/agency and/or non-profit advocacy organization.
Strong track-record of developing and delivering creative, effective online and off-line campaign and advocacy plans.
Good understanding and experience with different campaign and mobilisation models, different campaign platforms/tools, and how to apply them effectively.
Direct relevant experience in education (or international development) and a strong passion and interest in these issues.
Good understanding and experience of digital campaign communication best practices (e.g. email marketing, social media etc).
Experience of managing projects and organising large public events.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Experience with youth advocacy and engagement would be a strong plus.
A collaborative, hands-on attitude and team player approach.
A problem-solving mindset and ability to take initiative and think outside the box.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with good attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and generally to have a high bar for quality in your own work as well as your colleagues.
A commitment to Theirworld’s aims and a clear understanding of the contribution that campaigning can make to achieve our mission and how it can best link with other parts of the organisation’s work.
