Hope Starts with Education for Gaza's Children

A High-Level Roundtable During the United Nations General Assembly

Education Cannot Wait and Theirworld invite you to an invitation-only roundtable on what a comprehensive, sustained response for Gaza’s children, from the earliest years through to primary and secondary education and with a special focus on those with disabilities, should look like, and how the international community can collectively support it.

Date: Monday, September 21, 2026
Location: Theirworld, 599 Lexington Avenue, New York
Time: 3:00pm – 4:00pm

The conflict in Gaza has left some 660,000 children out of school for a third year, its youngest children without the early learning and care they need, and thousands with life-changing injuries and disabilities. Their needs will extend far beyond immediate humanitarian and medical assistance and cannot be met through fragmented or short-term interventions.

This strategic working conversation will bring together governments, UN agencies, humanitarian and development organizations, foundations, frontline Palestinian organizations and advocates to hear from those responding directly to the needs of affected children, identify critical gaps, connect initiatives already underway and explore opportunities for greater coordination and sustained financing.

The intention is not to create another stand-alone initiative or mechanism, but to build on existing efforts and identify where greater collaboration could provide children with a more coherent continuum of support.
