Engaging Nigerian youth in helping to make education a priority

Up for School or #upforschool campaign

On International Youth Day young minds gathered to discuss the theme “Youth Civic Engagement” at the Guest Quarters of the American Employees Recreation Association. It was a brainstorming session as the youth tasked each other on more participation in governance.

Global Youth Ambassador Douglas Imaralu delivered a wonderful paper on “Education as a Tool for Sustainable Development and Peace”. He spoke about the need to get every child in school and learning.

He discussed how the largest portion of the country’s population is the youth and the need for the country to prioritise education.

GYA Bukola Orenuga spoke about the wonderful work of A World at School and how participants can support the #UpForSchool campaign. She talked about the shocking fact that 59 million of out-of-school children and how several terror attacks by Boko Haram in Nigeria have displaced thousands of children, halting their education. After the event all of the participants signed the petition.
