We are helping to remove the barriers to education in Senegal

I am of Senegalese nationality and a native of the city of Koungheul. I am a Bachelor of English student of the University Cheikh Anta Diop. I have the honour and pleasure of being appointed an A World at School Global Youth Ambassador for Senegal.

I chose to work in education because it is the best tool to change the world. So following my nomination, I started a new group of young leaders called the YAGs Partner and together we will work to ensure a good education for the children of Senegal.

As a Global Youth Ambassador I opted for the challenge and I am here to remove the many barriers that keep children out of school. I am here to eradicate the scourge of child begging. I’m here to fight against child labour and early marriage. I am here to allow these children to be the leaders of tomorrow.

I have set up a project that has different branches such as awareness for parents, signing the #UpForSchool Petition, fighting against early marriages and child begging, training teachers and pupils on environmental education, and the installation of digital libraries in schools.

In addition we are going to start operating in the city of Koungheul during March, marking International Women’s Day. And to achieve our goals I have met many leaders who work in education, such as the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Education, the Director of the National Elementary Education, former Executive Director of ILO, Assane Diop.

In addition to these meetings the Minister of Education wrote me a letter of partnership to bring all children to school. Finally, I strongly urge the young Senegalese to work towards social justice, to unite to take on any challenge, as a call for change. The voices of those who want change should never be underestimated. We have power and are here to use it.
