Right now, millions of young people in the U.S. don’t have access to a quality education. They’re headed for a future where they won’t be equipped to fulfill their potential, or even earn a decent living.
Reading scores have dropped to levels last seen in 1992. And less than one-third of eighth graders are proficient in reading and math. The nation’s youth are being left behind.
Time and time again, research has shown education is the best route out of inequality and instability. It improves health. It reduces crime. But without investment into learning, from before children even start elementary school, there will be consequences for generations to come.
