Theirworld receives 500,000 Euros from Dutch Postcode Lottery
The United Postcode Lotteries are the third biggest private donor in the world – and we’re delighted that as part of their philanthropy they have awarded Theirworld 500,000 Euros.
The funding will allow us to continue our work in Lebanon and the surrounding region, as part of a package of support to help education and relief for Syrian refugee children and the 28 million children around the world who are out of school and living in conflict and emergency situations.
A cheque was handed over at a special Dutch Postcode Lottery event in Amsterdam, where George Clooney – the film star and newly announced ambassador for People’s Postcode Lottery – was the keynote speaker.
He talked about atrocities in Rwanda, Sudan and other countries and the importance of taking urgent action, instead of saying “if we knew, we would have acted sooner”.
The new Dutch Postcode Lottery funds for Theirworld will go towards continuing our campaign for all children in Lebanon and the surrounding region to be in school and learning.
It will also continue to support our growing movement of education youth ambassadors and support innovative projects that will directly benefit the lives of over 1,500 Syrian refugee children with nutrition and technology rooms that help address the barriers that prevent children from going to school even when a place does become available.
Thank you to the players of the Dutch Postcode Lottery.
