Stars of Half of a Yellow Sun pledge their support for education

The London premiere last night of the film Half of a Yellow Sun reunited the star-studded cast, including award-winning actors Thandie Newton and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

While filming on set in southern Nigeria only a few weeks ago, they met with A World at School founder Sarah Brown and pledged their support for the movement to get 57 million children into school and learning.

Half of a Yellow Sun recounts an important part of Nigeria’s history. Taking place during the Biafran War in the late 1960s, the film explores many of the social consequences the country has suffered from violent conflicts.

Today, Nigeria is the country with most out-of-school children in the world – with more than 10.5 million primary school age children missing out on an education.
