About the role

This is a new role to help us manage our growing donor portfolio. We are looking for someone who thrives on building relationships with people and who is proactive, creative, and keen to go the extra mile.  Theirworld seeks donations from high-net-worth individuals, charitable trusts and foundations, and corporate donors to support our five-year strategic plan.

The Donor Relations Manager will manage relationships with our Corporate Donors and support the activity of the Development Board including our Giving Circle to manage donor relations to the highest level.

As our development and fundraising activities grow, we are seeking a creative and hard-working Donor Relations Manager to join a small team.  This individual will have very strong attention to detail, teamwork and multitasking skills, as well as the enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to make a positive contribution to the growth and development of our development team.   

This role may suit a graduate with 3-7 years’ experience in charity or NGO fundraising and donor relations, or someone with experience working in an in-house role at a company or education organisation that works with the charitable or NGO sector with experience of managing high level relationships.

Main responsibilities

Cultivation and engagement:

  • Secure repeat donations and uplifts in giving from current donors
  • Write impact updates, reports and communications for donors
  • Support the Global Development Board initiatives including membership of the Theirworld Giving Circle
  • Keep Donor Relations processes and resources up to date and proactively identifying where processes need reviewing and updating.
  • Coordinate donor relations and engagement communications including Christmas and holiday messages and VIP invitations to events.
  • Ensure donor recognition is accurate, consistent and up to date communications and written resources.
  • Develop giving opportunities summaries and briefings
  • Create communications with key donor audiences for specific projects including legacies.
  • Manage our donations pipeline, ensuring we keep accurate records of donors’ planned giving
  • Increase and record knowledge of our donor motivations and history, developing our organisational knowledge for the long-term.
  • Build our corporate partnerships including developing packages to support corporate fundraising that is creative, engaging and effective
  • Work closely with Communications team and Events Manager to feed into our calendar of events ensuring they meet the needs of our donors
  • Plan activity for our corporate donors and stakeholders to engage in fundraising activities such as ‘Theirworld Your Walk”

These responsibilities and functions may be adjusted slightly for the right candidate and over time as needs change.  Short-term staff and/or consultants may be able to support in some specific instances (e.g. a large event), budgets permitting.

Experience, skills and character

  • Experience of development customer/donor relationships with proven results.
  • Experience of creating engaging communications to inspire donors.
  • An organised and creative thinker able to contribute and express ideas, and the ability to identify and develop opportunities.
  • Determined, enthusiastic and proactive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • An enthusiasm for maintaining relationships on behalf of the charity and delivering both fundraising outcomes balanced with donor relationship requirements.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to juggle several tasks simultaneously and willingness to see a job through.
  • Ability to get on with people at all levels of the organisation and cooperate with other teams to build better outcomes for the charity.
  • Understanding of Salesforce database is a plus. 

Salary

Starting at £38,000 per year based on qualifications and experience.
