About the role
This is a new role to help us manage our growing donor portfolio. We are looking for someone who thrives on building relationships with people and who is proactive, creative, and keen to go the extra mile. As our fundraising activities grow, we are seeking a creative and hard-working Donor Relations Manager to join a small team. This individual will have very strong attention to detail, teamwork and multitasking skills, as well as the enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to make a positive contribution to the growth and development of our development team.
The Donor Relations Manager will manage relationships through our public fundraising and events, including one-time, monthly and recurring online donors, and supporting the Fundraising Director (to be appointed). This will include managing the data on salesforce, fundraising and challenge events, school and corporate sponsors (e.g. charity of the year) and the stewarding process of individual donors.
This role may suit a graduate with 3-7 years’ experience in charity or NGO fundraising and donor relations, or someone with experience working in an in-house role at a company or education organisation that works with the charitable or NGO sector with experience of managing high level relationships.
Main responsibilities
Cultivation and engagement:
- Maintain donation pipeline by securing repeat donations and uplifts in giving from current online and ‘small’ donors
- Build our corporate partnerships (e.g. “Charity of the Year” engagements) and relationships with schools, including developing packages to support creative, engaging and effective fundraising activities
- Support a portfolio of engagement opportunities for corporate donors and other general public stakeholders to engage in fundraising activities, including ‘Theirworld Your Walk”
- Support challenge events and individual fundraising activities
- Create mailings and communications assets to share with targeted donor audiences to fundraise for specific projects specific projects (online and offline)
- Work with our digital marketing team to coordinate online donor relations and engagement communications, including Christmas, holiday messages, and giving opportunities
- Support legacy giving program
Processes and tracking:
- Oversee accurate tracking and recording of donations and gifts using Salesforce
- Engage in stewardship activities, including thank-you notes, impact updates, reports and communications for donors
- Maintain updated donor relations records, adhere to organisational donor processes, and update donor relations resources; proactively identify opportunities to strengthen record-keeping systems.
- Ensure donor recognition is accurate, consistent and timely.
- Increase and record knowledge of our donor motivations and history, developing our organisational knowledge for the long-term.
These responsibilities and functions may be adjusted slightly for the right candidate and over time as needs change.
Experience, skills and character
- Experience of development customer/donor relationships with proven results.
- Experience of creating engaging communications to inspire donors.
- An organised and creative thinker able to contribute and express ideas, and the ability to identify and develop opportunities.
- Determined, enthusiastic and proactive ‘can do’ attitude.
- An enthusiasm for maintaining relationships on behalf of the charity and delivering both fundraising outcomes balanced with donor relationship requirements.
- Strong time management skills, ability to juggle several tasks simultaneously and willingness to see a job through.
- Ability to get on with people at all levels of the organisation and cooperate with other teams to build better outcomes for the charity.
- Understanding of Salesforce database is a plus.
Salary
Starting at £40,000 per year based on qualifications and experience.
