7 tweets about David Beckham’s pledge to world’s children
Football star David Beckham is one of the most recognisable people on the planet. So who better than the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy icon to front a campaign aimed at helping to protect millions of children from danger?
David celebrated his 10 years as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador this week by launching 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund. It will raise funds and put pressure on world leaders to help some of the most at-risk children by providing education, health care, water and sanitation, and social protection.
The fund – named after his famous shirt number – will aim to tackle many of the problems that stop children going to school in developing countries – including disease and poverty. It will concentrate on seven projects in seven countries, including training teachers and supplying school materials in Bangladesh where 2.6 million children do not regularly attend primary school.
Here are seven messages sent on Twitter about the work David Beckham is doing with the fund.
