About David
David is a Consultant and former senior Corporate Partner at the law firm Reed Smith, and was previously global chair of Reed Smith’s Business and Finance Department.
David also supports and works on a pro bono basis for various organisations. He is a founding Trustee and Secretary of the global children’s charity Theirworld and a Board Director of the Global Business Coalition for Education/Theirworld USA. In addition, David represents the Global Business Coalition for Education on behalf of the private sector on the board of the Global Partnership for Education (the $4 billion World Bank-hosted fund supporting education in over 80 developing countries). He spoke at the UN General Assembly in New York in September 2018 at the inaugural meeting about the International Finance Facility for Education, which has already secured $1.5 billion since its launch in 2023. In addition, David serves as a director of Marketing Derby and is Deputy Chair of the Council of the Business School of the University of Derby and is a patron of Treetops Hospice in Derbyshire.
In June 2017 David was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to children’s charity and advocating charitable corporate involvement.
