Thinking skills, innovation and technology were on the agenda at a special boot camp in Nigeria.
Last month I organised a week-long social innovation boot camp tagged Human Capital Community Innovation Boot camp 2018 under the theme "Challenging The Status Quo".
The event was aimed at empowering, engaging and educating economically-disadvantaged teenagers within communities in Nigeria on quality human capital development skills which are needed to foster transformational leadership, entrepreneurship, employment and social innovation processes.
Through my organisation Social Impact Africa, we selected 500 teenagers and engaged with them in capacity-building sessions, focusing on teaching "Design Thinking Skills for Transformational Leadership".
We also engaged with them in an experiential learning process which allowed participants to identify and create solutions to an identified problem within their locality - making them see themselves as leaders within their communities.
The final session was delivered to use Technological Skills To Drive Transformational Leadership within communities.
The teenagers learned high-valued technological skills ranging from artificial intelligence and drone technology to the Internet of Things.
They also divided themselves in four groups of collective activators and actors, creating technology-driven solutions to some of the identified local problems within their communities.
