Matt Lucas becomes new ambassador for children’s charity Theirworld
Theirworld is delighted to announce that actor, comedian and television presenter Matt Lucas has become the charity’s latest ambassador.
In his new role, Matt will support Theirworld’s mission to end the global education crisis and give every child the best start in life, a safe place to learn and skills for the future.
The star has supported Theirworld for several years. In 2017, he revived his much-loved character George Dawes – complete with pink onesie – as part of the charity’s #5for5 campaign, which called on world leaders to prioritise five crucial interventions needed for children aged 0 to 5.
Other ambassadors supporting Theirworld’s work include actor Minnie Driver, illustrator and author Nick Sharratt, writer and presenter Sandi Toksvig OBE, magician Dynamo, and film and animation director Steve Nguyen.
Lucas first came to prominence playing George Dawes on Shooting Stars with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. He co-wrote and co-starred in sketch show Little Britain alongside David Walliams. He currently co-hosts The Great British Bake Off and has also appeared in numerous film projects, including Disney’s Alice in Wonderland films, Paddington, Bridesmaids and Warner Bros’ forthcoming Wonka.
