“So Many Young People Don’t Have This – I’m Glad I Was Able to Help”

Gulcan and her former mentor Gillian are featured in this month’s Prima Magazine

This month’s edition of Prima (published by Hearst Magazines UK) features an interview with Gillian Weekes, who mentors young people as part of initiative called Mentoring Works, supported by Theirworld.

Gillian recalls her first time mentoring two teenage girls, Shola and Gulcan, to “develop the interpersonal and social skills they need to get a good education and career”. She meets Gulcan, now 23, with her own family and working as a teaching assistant. Gillian, she says, will “always be [her] mentor and part of [her] family too.”
