Theirworld, Your Walk: a step-by-step guide to our big fundraising challenge

Sign up now to take our steps challenge throughout June and help us to make this a better world for children.

The global education crisis can seem overwhelming. But we can tackle it together – by taking one step at a time.

Theirworld, Your Walk 2023 is a fun, steps-based challenge during June that will raise vital funds to help support some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

Put your best foot forward and choose from two challenges – the Thrilling 300k and the Magic Million. Whether you complete 300,000 steps on your own or one million steps as a team, your walk will help create a better world for children.

You can rack up the miles as you walk (or jog) in the park, commute to work or stroll round the shops. You can do it on your own or as part of a team of family, friends or colleagues.

Theirworld supporter Christine Donald and her four-year-old grandson David walked the equivalent of a marathon in last year’s version of our fundraising challenge. She said: “It was an amazing 26 miles.  In rain and sun, we walked in woods and the countryside near home. Sometimes we even walked the longest way to nursery school to add to our total.”

Anyone from any country can take part in Theirworld, Your Walk 2023. And it’s so simple to take part.

How to get involved

STEP ONE

Sign up for the walk – it’s free to register. Create your fundraising page with JustGiving and Theirworld.

STEP TWO

If you want to start a team, use the Edit Page button to create a team page and invite registered individuals to join your team.

STEP THREE

Set yourself a fundraising target. We suggest a minimum of £150 ($185) but you can aim as high as you want.

STEP FOUR

Check out our resources to help you spread the word and raise as much money as possible to help Theirworld’s mission. We’ve got some great tips and social media graphics for you.

STEP FIVE

During June, start walking and track your steps across the month through an app or pedometer. Then log the number of steps on your fundraising page.

STEP SIX

Join Theirworld’s Facebook page to share stories and talk to others who are taking on the challenge.

All funds raised will support Theirworld’s work. With 250 million children not in school and nearly two-thirds of 10-year-olds in low- and middle-income countries are unable to read or understand a simple text.

It’s a big challenge. But Theirworld’s projects, campaigns, research and youth advocacy are making a real difference in the lives of so many children. Learn more about our impact.
