Children Teaching Children, with Givat Haviva

About the project

In Israel, Theirworld supports Givat Haviva’s Children Teaching Children (CTC) programme, a model for peace education in the region. For over three decades, Children Teaching Children has brought together Arab and Jewish middle school students  – who live side by side yet rarely meet –  giving them the courage to confront prejudice and learn together.

During a time of division, the programme has been an opportunity to connect both communities. Young participants in Children Teaching Children chose to share experiences, listen to each other’s stories, express their emotions, and find common ground through art, storytelling, and reflection.

Impact

With Theirworld’s support, Jewish and Arab students are coming together for weekly arts-based sessions led by trained facilitators who guide sensitive conversations on identity, democracy and coexistence; hundreds of students have already taken part, reporting greater empathy, confidence and understanding, with more than 90% recommending the programme, and teachers noting stronger trust and emotional resilience in their classrooms.
