Magician Dynamo announced as Theirworld ambassador during star-studded 15-year celebration event in London
Actress Kim Cattrall, Author Kathy Lette, Actor David Morrissey, and TV presenter June Sarpong were among a host of big names who came together last night to celebrate 15 years of groundbreaking work by charity Theirworld.
A reception – held at Speaker’s House in the Palace of Westminster, London – was attended by supporters including Penny Lancaster – a Theirworld champion for early childhood development – children’s author, illustrator and Theirworld Ambassador Nick Sharratt, Vlogger Niomi Smart and Nicola Haxby, a busker who has raised more than £5,000 for the charity.
A number of MPs, including Secretary of State for International Development, Penny Mordaunt, Shadow International Development Secretary Kate Osamor MP, and DFID Minister Alistair Burt MP, attended the event, as well as a raft of experts in early years care and education across the UK and around the world.
The event was opened – and generously hosted by – Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow MP, who told guests of “Theirworld’s groundbreaking work over the past 15 years” before introducing founder and President Sarah Brown as a “true humanitarian”.
Speeches concluded with Sarah announcing master magician Dynamo and British TV favourite and equality campaigner Sandi Toksvig as official Theirworld ambassadors.
Dynamo, the global icon whose television show ‘Magician Impossible’ has captivated more then 400 million viewers across 180 different countries and is the first magician in history to headline the 20,000-capacity O2 arena in London, was warmly welcomed into the Theirworld team.
Having previously worked on a film titled Safe Schools: Children Can No Longer Wait, Dynamo has been a key supporter of Theirworld’s work with Syrian refugee children since 2016.
Sarah Brown said: “We are thrilled to welcome multi-award winning magician Dynamo as an official Theirworld ambassador.
“What many believe is impossible – educating every child in the world – Theirworld knows IS possible, especially for those children caught up in conflict and violence through no fault of their own.
“Dynamo’s approach to all he does focuses on the magic of making the impossible possible and inspiring young people to dream, which is why we are so excited to welcome him into the team.”
