#BringBackOurGirls: thousands march in solidarity in Pakistan

A World at School Global Youth Ambassadors in Pakistan today led a march in solidarity with the campaign to #BringBackOurGirls.

Mian Zaryab Arif, A World at School Global Youth Ambassador, led a packed public hearing in Kasur on the crisis and what can be done.  Explaining the event, Mian said: “As Pakistan is facing attack of Taliban on our schools for so many years it is easy for me to explain the issue of the innocent Nigerian Girls to the students of various schools and set up a plan to have a rally to stand up for the Nigerian Girls.”

The briefing started with an audience of around 300 people, but by the time the subsequent march started a crowd of nearly two thousand people, including students, lawyers, trade unionists and members of the press, had gathered  together to march for the release of the girls of Chibok and against attacks on education.

“We marched in Pakistan from Baldia Chock Kasur to Noor Mosque Chock Kasur.  For one kilometer nearly 2,000 students walked in solidarity to bring attention for these girls.   In my speech I demanded that the Government of Pakistan stand with the Nigerian Girls. I also gave my appreciation of the Honorable Mr. Gordon Brown and his launch of The Safe School Initiative in Nigeria. We stand for girls education in Pakistan and around the world.”
