It was a glittering night in every way as British and American celebrities backed the campaign to get every child around the world into school.

Singing legend Rod Stewart and wife Penny Lancaster, TV host Piers Morgan and film stars Geena Davis and Minnie Driver were among the big names who attended a reception held in Los Angeles last night to celebrate a partnership between the charity Theirworld and the UK-based jewellery brand Astley Clarke.

Theirworld’s initiatives include A World at School – the global campaign to ensure education for every child in every country, free from danger or discrimination.

Guests added their names to the more than six million people who have already signed the #UpForSchool Petition, which demands that world leaders keep to their promise made in 2000 that all children get a primary education. It will be handed in at the United Nations General Assembly in September – and you can sign it now.

The reception was held at the LA residence of British Consul General Chris O’Connor. Guests learned more about the work of the British charity Theirworld – founded by Sarah Brown – and its collaboration with Astley Clarke, which has designed three exclusive Theirworld bracelets. The jewellery firm is donating 20% of sales to the charity to be invested into projects such as #UpForSchool.

Actress Sophia Bush – best known for her role in TV series Chicago PD – posted this Instagram picture of herself with Sarah.

Theirworld works to ensure all children have the best possible chance of living a healthy and happy life, from vulnerable babies whose lives could be saved with the right medical advances, to children who have the hardest start in life and need greater support and encouragement.

Astley Clarke was founded in London by Bec Astley Clarke to celebrate design and colour in fine jewellery. Its collections are available online  in UK concessions in Harrods, Liberty London and Selfridges London and in select Saks and Neiman Marcus stores across the United States.
