Sarah Brown, Up for School or #upforschool campaign

Sarah Brown and Pauline Macaulay

Theirworld’s President Sarah Brown appears with her mother in this month’s House Beautiful magazine talking about about how her childhood affected her charity work, why family matters and the growing momentum of the #UpForSchool movement.

In the exclusive interview, conducted jointly with her mother, former teacher Pauline Macaulay, Sarah Brown says: ‘When I was growing up Pauline was a strong role model as a feminist, working mum and somebody who had gone back to a career after having children. She trained as a teacher, then a headteacher and has a PhD in social anthropology. Whatever glass ceiling exists, my mother’s always pushing it higher.” The interview was given to coincide with Mother’s Day, on March 15. For a fuller version of this interview see the March issue of House Beautiful, out today ( Feb 4).
