Share your old school picture and help Girls Stand #UpForSchool
International Women's Day
In the build-up to International Women’s Day on March 8, join us to stand #UpForSchool for the next generation of women and ensure that they have the opportunity to grow, learn at school and lead.
We are kicking off a week of global campaigning on March 5 and will honour the achievements and contribution of women and girls everywhere while recognising the barriers that have kept more than 30 million out of school.
March 5 is a Thursday – so we’re joining in with the Throwback Thursday – or #TBT – social media craze when people share old photos of themselves, their family and friends. Please join us by posting your school picture on social media and standing up for girls’ education by asking people to sign the #UpForSchool Petition that calls on world leaders to keep their promise to get all children into school and learning without danger or discrimination.
Above is a great example of how to do it from Christianne Cavaliere, Director of Partnerships for Theirworld, A World at School and the Global Business Coalition for Education.
Here’s how you can support Girls Stand #UpForSchool
STEP 1: Find an old school picture! (This could be a photo of you going to school/a year book photo/in school uniform)
STEP 2: Share the picture on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram on Thursday, March 5 using the following words:
Facebook: This #TBT is to mark International Women’s Day! Here’s a picture of me as a school girl to show solidarity with the 31 million girls around the world denied the right to go to school and fulfil their dreams. Join me and stand #UpForSchool by signing the #UpForSchool Petition to secure a future where every girl around the world is educated and empowered to reach their potential. #IWD2015
