Last week at People’s Postcode Lottery’s annual Charity Gala an overall amount of £700,000 was awarded to Theirworld.

This will go towards Theirworld’s work across Africa in helping the most disadvantaged children secure a quality education, as well as Theirworld’s campaigning to ensure that children affected by conflict and disaster are able to continue their education. It will be used to help thousands of Syrian refugee children across Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan to return to school in September.

A special award of £100,000 will support the expansion of Theirworld’s projects in Lebanon, where over 300,000 refugee children are out of school. Theirworld is piloting low-cost interventions to support children’s learning within the innovative double shift school system, which has been rolled out across the country.

Receiving this award at the Gala, Sarah Brown said: “Thank you to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. This extra funding will enable us to directly support the education of 700 additional Syrian refugee children in Lebanon with vital nutrition and learning materials to help their journey to a brighter future.”

Thank you to the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
