Marlborough House reception with Rt Hon Baroness Scotland KC
The Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland invited Theirworld Global Youth Ambassadors to learn more about the work and reach of The Commonwealth and followed this by hosting a spectacular reception for Theirworld supporters at the historic and beautiful Marlborough House in Pall Mall, London in June 2024.

Theirworld Your Walk with Joan Armatrading MBE
Joan Armatrading took time away from preparing her new album to walk 300,000 miles for Theirworld Your Walk in 2024 to support delivering learning-ready laptops for Ukrainian children whilst displaced from their home and country. Long serving trustee Arabella Weir joined in the walk keeping pace with the step count too. Schools and businesses around the UK also signed up for this fun and active annual June fundraiser.

Christmas Carol Concert with Matt Lucas
The 2023 carol concert marked a more sombre tone as we recognised new conflicts around the world affecting children’s futures, but there was joy with the singing and readings, and some laughter at Matt Lucas’ reading from his book, The Boy Who Slept Through Christmas.

Reed Smith charity quiz with BBC’s Ros Atkins
The 2023 annual fundraising quiz was hosted by the BBC’s Analysis Editor, Ros Atkins famed for his Explainers on newsworthy topics. He steered the quiz with contributions from David Tennant and Rosie Jones with great skills effortlessly through one tiny tech glitch as you would expect from an experienced live presenter.

2023 UNGA dinner with Sarah & Gordon Brown and Roger Federer
The United Nations’ General Assembly in New York offers the opportunity for Theirworld to co-host its annual dinner for leaders who can make a difference for global education. In 2023 tennis champion Roger Federer joined forces with Sarah and Gordon Brown to bring the focus to the Early Years.

2023 Winfield House reception hosted by the US Ambassador
US Ambassador Jane Hartley opened up Winfield House for a summer reception to celebrate the US/UK connections for Theirworld and the Global Business Coalition for Education. Attended by Matt Lucas, Audley Harrison, Meera Syal and Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kathy Lette and many other supporters of Theirworld, it was a magical night in the beautiful residence and its wonderful garden in the heart of London.
January 2023
BBC Radio 4 appeal voiced by David Tennant
In early January 2023 our BBC Radio 4 appeal, voiced by David Tennant, was broadcast. The appeal highlighted the impact that conflict can have on children’s education and how important it is to get refugee children back into school. Through the broadcast vital funds were raised which will help us in our work to give all children a safe place to learn. David Tennant has been a long time supporter of Theirworld having helped out work for the past 15 years. Back in 2021 he also voiced a Theirworld video highlighting the role of education in addressing some of the greatest challenges we currently face, from climate change to civil unrest. The video was a powerful way to raise awareness for the global education crisis and urge world leaders to step up and invest in education.

Christmas Carol Concert – Bill Nighy performs a reading
In December 2022 we hosted a festive carol concert in partnership with our corporate partner Reed Smith. The night was attended by over 300 people who enjoyed traditional carols and readings by some of our well-known supporters including actor Bill Nighy.

Reed Smith Charity Quiz – Ed Balls as quizmaster
Our corporate partner Reed Smith hosts an annual quiz night in order to raise funds for Theirworld. In 2022 Ed Balls kindly took on the role of quiz master adding personality and enthusiasm to the quiz questions and the night in general. The event is always well-attended and with fun questions presented by Ed and a positive atmosphere all round, thousands of pounds were raised to help us in our work.
