Theirworld fundraisers run for 24 hours
Congratulations to the team of runners who took part in the Adidas Thunder Run, a 24 hour endurance event in Derbyshire.
The team, assembled by long-term Theirworld and Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory supporter Dave Jowett, managed to run a combined total of 266km in 24 hours. Each runner covered 65km on less than one hour of sleep – an incredible feat! Despite losing one team member to injury, they still managed to finish a very impressive 13th place in their category.
The fundraising effort in support of this challenge has been fantastically successful – with more than £700 raised and money still being received. All funds raised will go to support our talented and dedicated team of scientists in the Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory.
Their research is advancing a range of exciting and pioneering research projects and they are making real progress towards resolving some of the life-threatening complications that can arise during pregnancy and birth for mothers and babies. The hard work and commitment of Dave and his team will help us to continue our work in understanding how we can better help treasured tiny newborns in those first crucial hours and days after birth.
Very special thanks to Dave Jowett, Steve Taylor, Martin Bown, Simon Walkden and Philip Kelly for going to such extraordinary lengths to support our work.
