About

For many children and young people, a library can be much more than a place to borrow books. It can be a safe place to learn, build confidence and discover new opportunities.

Book Bunk’s Expanding Public Libraries project is transforming neglected libraries in Nairobi into vibrant community spaces where people can learn, create and connect. Through homework support, arts programmes, life skills activities and mental health education, it helps children and families access learning beyond the classroom.

The project also restores historic library buildings, digitises archives and expands access to diverse resources, including books by African authors and Braille materials.

By creating welcoming spaces shaped by local communities, Book Bunk is helping more people access education, creativity and wellbeing support close to home.
