Celebrities support #UpForSchool at House Beautiful Awards 2014

Up for School or #upforschool campaign

Julia Goodwin, Editor of House Beautiful, rises #UpForSchool

The House Beautiful awards ceremony took place at the Science Museum in London on 13 November. The event brought together some of the best talent and excellence in home designs, products, and retailers, including a number of TV stars from presenter Nick Knowles to DIY expert Tommy Walsh.

At the event, the #UpForSchool petition, led by the Theirworld initiative – A World at School – was championed by Julia Goodwin, Editor of the magazine. Julia announced her support and asked guests to sign the petition and join the movement to get every child into school, without danger and without discrimination.

This comes as part of a wider initiative launched by Hearst, of which House Beautiful is a part of, which aims to empower women through celebrating the lives, aspirations, and achievements of British females.

Education empowers women, but it is also through education that we can tackle key issues that keep girls out of school, from child marriage to child labour. The #UpForSchool campaign speaks out for all children to secure the right to go to school.  Sign the petition here and show your support.
