Help us to make #UpForSchool the world’s biggest petition

Up for School or #upforschool campaign

Nothing changes without pressure. That’s why we’re building the world’s biggest petition to demand that all children around the world are in school and learning.

The #UpForSchool Petition is being driven by young people – including A World at School’s 500 Global Youth Ambassadors in 85 countries. Now we want young people across the globe – and everyone else – to join us in this record-breaking effort.

World leaders promised to get every child into school by the end of 2015 and the deadline to help the 58 million who aren’t is fast approaching.

We need to collect more than 24 million signatures to deliver next year. Four of our partners – Avaaz, Educationa International, World Evangelical Alliance and Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi – have already commited to collect 12 million signatures.

To make this the world’s biggest petition, we need the rest to come from people like you. And that’s why we’re asking people to collect 1000 signatures each for the #UpForSchool Petition. Collect them yourself or work together as a faith group, school or business. Ask for signatures at a sports event, concert or community gathering.

Signing the #UpForSchool Petition – two of the 20,000 who have signed in Pakistan, Global Youth Ambassador Lulu Cerone collects signatures at her US school and President Kikwete of Tanzania

We’ll be handing the first set of petition forms to Gordon Brown, United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, at the end of 2014. Can you collect 1000 signatures by then?

Here’s your simple guide to being part of history and helping to get every child an education, no matter who they are and where they live.

1. Download the #UpForSchool Petition form here and start collecting signatures. It is available in English and several other languages

2. Tell us you are taking part by emailing us at [email protected]

3. Collect 1000 signatures

4. Notify [email protected] when you have 1000 signatures and we will send you a certificate to recognise your effort, include you in our world record attempt and tell you where to send the signatures.

All children deserve the opportunity to learn and achieve their potential.

We’re #UpForSchool. Are you?
