We work with partners, including business leaders, faiths organisations, NGOs and social justice campaigns, to deliver projects that help children get the best start in life and a quality education. Theirworld projects include school places for Syrian refugees, Code Clubs for girls, a child marriage-free zone, the Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory and the Theirworld Edinburgh Birth Cohort.
Code Clubs are spaces where girls can learn about technology and develop their skills, confidence and creativity. The clubs help girls to build skills they need in a technology-driven economy and to be aware how critical thinking and leadership can be applied in their own communities.
Researchers at the Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory are doing vital work to discover more about the causes of babies being born early and finding better ways to care for them. The aim is to minimise some of the life-threatening complications that can arise for mothers and babies.
This project is a research programme which studies the long-term effects of early birth. The study includes social, educational and clinical information. It is the first research initiative in the world to investigate perinatal brain injury this comprehensively.
